It has been three years since the Decepticons last attacked Earth, but Optimus Prime and the Autobots know it is only a matter of time before Megatron begins his next assault on this planet. While on patrol the Autobot Cliffjumper encounters a swarm of the Decepticons and, despite being outnumbered, he bravely engages the enemy. Cliffjumper is eventually overwhelmed by the Decepticons and his Autobot companions lose contact with him.
As well as coming to terms with the loss of Cliffjumper, Optimus Prime and the Autobots are forced to care for three young humans who find themselves in harm's way as a result of the Decepticons, who are now lead by Starscream, with Megatron being strangely absent.
